No movement where people demanded their rights has ever been successful without the oppressed rising up. And usually, a critical mass of the target group must rise up before a shift in ideas or behaviors begins to take place. It was how the civil rights movement was won. Today, however, we hear there is a war on women’s rights and women are losing the battle.

Condemnation of authorities or government – – even when those entities are being outrageous—goes against our better judgment as ‘good Americans’. My zeal in fact finding and repeating news was coming across as hatred of police—which is totally untrue.
I do, however, hate injustice. Currently (and historically) police and government authorities have been at the heart of many of those injustices.

I had never thought of my grandmother as a “mother figure” before her death. She was way too cool for that. Despite being the epitome of a dignified woman, Jesus was fun and funny. Her lessons about life, love, self respect have been priceless to me.

Critique to date:There have been a lot of articles written about Elizabeth Warren’s use of Direct to Market testing to prove her native ancestry and what it means both politically and socially in the USA. This action was complicated & layered by the involvement of Carlos Bustamante, a Latino genomicist who has been a vocal advocate for Amerindigenous research. Many of the strongest objections have come from American Indian academics and genome scientists. These highly credentialed Natives have come under attack from laypeople & media alike for being out of touch with grassroots Native community members.
