Homeschooling is growing at an annual rate of 7%. As of 2010 there are approximately 4% of the population is homeschooled. at 2,040,000 compare that to 1999 there was only 850,000 homeschoolers.
Some of the main reasons why parents say they homeschool:
They want to provide moral or religious instruction.
They are concerned with negative or unsafe environment (drugs, safety, bullying, negative pressure).
They are dissatisfied with the academic instruction at other schools.
They have a unique family situation, travel a lot, issues of time and money etc., which make homeschooling more ideal for their family.
They have a special needs child.
